Head Coach Jose Peseiro has named two new defenders in his 23-man squad to face World Cup-bound Portugal in a friendly encounter.

The friendly encounter against the former European champions will hold in Lisbon on Thursday next week.

Defenders Bruno Onyemaechi from Boavista, Portugal, and Bright Osayi Samuel of Fenarbache, Turkey is called up for the first time.

They will hope to claim a spot on the regular squad in the absence of Ola Aina and Zaidu Sanusi two regular full-backs for the super eagles.

Ola and Zaidu are missing out due to injuries and other reasons.

In the battle to claim a spot on the matchday, the duo will have Chidiebube Duru of Rivers United and Tyronne Ebuehi of Empoli FC, Italy to contend with.

Bruno Onyemaechi (Boavista FC, Portugal):

The 23-year-old defender who can play as a Centre-back & Left-back has featured in 12 games for the Portuguese side in all competitions this season, accumulating 1000+ minutes of playing time.

However, Bruno’s versatility can also see him compete in left midfield, a position he has tried out on a few occasions.

Bright Osayi-Samuel (Fenerbahce, Turkey):

Osayi-Samuel was born in Okija Anambra, then moved with his family to Spain before emigrating to England when he was 10 years old.

Meanwhile, he has played 20 games for Fenerbahce this season, he has played as a Right-back and Winger this season.

Furthermore, Thursday’s encounter at the Estadio Jose Alvalade in Lisbon will kick off at 18.45 pm Portugal time (19.45 pm in Nigeria)
