Four Nigerian Stars Get Nominations for 2024 Best FIFA Football Awards

 

Four Nigerians made the shortlist for the 2024 Best FIFA Football Awards.

Leading Nigeria’s nominations is Ademola Lookman who made the shortlist for the Best Men’s Player of the Year award category.

Also, Ademola Lookman is in the running for the CAF African Player of the Year award.

Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong is on the shortlist for the Best FIFA 11 award.

The Best FIFA Football Awards recognizes the leading lights in women’s and men’s football at both club and national team levels.

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu was nominated for the Puskas Award for Goal of the Year.

Similarly, former African Women’s Footballer of the Year, Asisat Oshoala was nominated for the Marta Award for the best goal scored by a woman in 2024.

To honour the best goal scored in women’s football in any league around the world, the FIFA Marta Award, named after the Brazilian legend, will be presented for the very first time.

Other categories also emerged according to FIFA.

The Best FIFA Football Awards include the Best FIFA Women’s Player, The Best FIFA Men’s Coach, The Best FIFA Women’s Coach, The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper, and The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper.

The Best FIFA Women’s Player: Aitana Bonmatí (Spain), Barcelona, Barbra Banda (Zambia), Shanghai Shengli/Orlando Pride, and Caroline Graham Hansen (Norway), Barcelona.

The Best FIFA Men’s Coach: Carlo Ancelotti (Italy), Real Madrid, Lionel Scaloni (Argentina), Argentina, and Pep Guardiola (Spain), Manchester City.

The Best FIFA Women’s Coach: Arthur Elias (Brazil), Brazil, Emma Hayes (England), Chelsea/USA, and Jonatan Giráldez (Spain), Barcelona/Washington Spirit.

Voting for the awards is now open on https://FIFA.com with fans set to play a key role in choosing the winners. The winners will be announced at a ceremony in 2024.
