Enyimba Sports Director Confirms Signing of Ex-Super Eagles Striker, Ideye

Ifeanyi Ekwueme, the Sports Director of Enyimba Football Club, has confirmed the signing of former Super Eagles striker, Brown Ideye, until the end of the 2024/25 season.

“Yes, the talks have been going on for a while and we completed it yesterday,” Ekwueme said in a statement to reporters on Tuesday. “He will be with us until the end of the season and we believe he will bolster our team’s attack as we compete in the league and the continent.”

Ekwueme expressed his delight at the signing, stating that Ideye’s experience and skill will be a valuable addition to the team. “We are excited to have Brown Ideye on board. He is a proven goal-scorer and his experience will be invaluable to us as we push for success in the league and the CAF Confederation Cup.”

Ideye, 36, has been without a club since leaving Kuwaiti side Al Yarmouk in 2022, but Ekwueme is confident that he will make an immediate impact at Enyimba. “We believe that Brown Ideye still has a lot to offer and we are looking forward to seeing him in action for us. He will be a great addition to our squad and will help us to achieve our goals.”

The signing of Ideye marks a significant coup for Enyimba, who are looking to strengthen their squad as they compete in the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) and the CAF Confederation Cup. Ekwueme is confident that Ideye’s signing will be a major boost to the team’s chances of success.

Enyimba have two crucial matches coming up in the next five days, with a rescheduled NPFL game against Sunshine Stars on Wednesday, followed by a trip to Maputo, Mozambique for their third group game in the CAF Confederation Cup against Black Bulls. Ekwueme is hopeful that Ideye will be available for selection for these matches.

“We are looking forward to seeing Brown Ideye in action for us and we are confident that he will make a positive impact on our team,” Ekwueme said.
