The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the draw ceremony for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) will take place on January 15, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.
Meanwhile, Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles B team begins their preparations for the tournament on Monday, January 6, 2025, with 26 players invited to camp at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
The eighth edition of the CHAN tournament will be co-hosted by Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda from February 1 to 28, 2025.
The competition is exclusively reserved for players plying their trade in the domestic leagues of their countries.
A total of 18 countries have qualified for the tournament, including Morocco, Guinea, Senegal, Mauritania, Niger, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Congo, DR Congo, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, Rwanda, Zambia, Angola, and Madagascar.
The three co-hosts, Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, are seeded as A1, B1, and C1, respectively, while the remaining 15 countries are divided into pots 1, 2, and 3 based on their performances in the last three editions.
Nigeria, who qualified for the tournament after defeating Ghana’s Black Galaxies 3-1 in Uyo, will be seeking to win their first CHAN title.
The team has never won the tournament, finishing third in 2014 and losing the final to Morocco in 2018.
