Nigeria dominated the 2024 Middle Stump Cricket Awards, winning all 13 available categories at the ceremony held at the Cricket Lab of the Tafawa Balewa Square Oval in Lagos on Friday.
The awards, which celebrate cricketing excellence across Africa, recognized Nigeria’s outstanding achievements in the sport, including the country’s historic bronze medal win at the African Games in Ghana and qualification for the 2025 ICC Women’s U-19 World Cup in Malaysia.
Leke Oyede, head coach of Nigeria’s women’s national cricket team, won the Coach of the Year award, beating out competitors from Uganda, Malawi, and Nigeria’s U-19 women’s team.
The Junior Female Yellow Greens, who secured Africa’s ticket to the U-19 Women’s World Cup, won the Best Cricketing Moment in Africa award, edging out their senior colleagues’ African Games bronze medal feat and Uganda’s qualification for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
The Edo State Cricket Association took home the Best Grassroots Development Program in Africa award, outshining competitors from Uganda, Rwanda, and Nigeria.
Okechukwu Onwudiwe of the Northern Cosmopolitan Academy won the Individual Contribution to Grassroots Development in Africa award.
Nigerian umpires Tope Onikoyi and Dahiru Enesi were voted Male and Female Umpires of the Year, respectively.
