New Super Eagles coach, Eric Chelle will expectedly resume his role next week after announcing his departure from MC Oran.
Sources in Algeria revealed that Chelle Leaves MC Oran on the back of a contract clause allowing him to leave the MCO if he receives an offer from a national team.
In his last match, MC Oran edged Ittihad Setif 1-0 in the Algerian Cup.
Merouane Dahar sealed the victory via a 51st-minute penalty, securing Oran’s spot in the Round of 16.
The result improves Chelle’s record at MC Oran to six wins, two draws, and five losses in 13 matches.
They play Ittihad in the next round without Eric Chelle in the dugout.
Eric Chelle met with MC Oran management after their Algerian Cup clash with Ittihad Setif to clear his path to the Nigerian job.
MC Oran is demanding he pay back a 3-month advance for early contract termination as stipulated.
Chelle sent wishes to the football club at the post-match conference and revealed club management tried convincing him to stay, but the Super Eagles job was a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity”.
“This is my last meeting with you and it marks the end of my adventure here. From Monday, I will be in Nigeria to start a new chapter,”
“The MCO officials insisted that I continue, but one cannot refuse to lead the one of the best teams in Africa and the world”. (Fennec) Football)
Meanwhile, as Chelle leaves MC Oran, he is expected to arrive in Nigeria Monday morning at the latest and commence work immediately.
