The easiest question the Nigerian U19 cricket team answered in their ICC promotional video for the women’s U19 cricket World Cup was who to watch in the team, and the answer was emphatic; Lucky Piety.
“She is going to be the toughest batter, she adapts to bowlers very easily“ Ude Lilian, a teammate quips while another teammate, Chukwunonye Christabel goes deeper in describing her ingenuity.

Lucky Piety is the captain of the Nigerian women’s U19 team who shocked New Zealand by 2 runs to earn the country’s first win in a major international cricket event.
While creating that history, The all-rounder, Piety added hers, scoring Nigeria’s first six at a major cricket tournament.
Piety was at the heart of the upset against the New Zealand girls, batting by example, thereby winning the Aramco Player of the Match award.
She kept fans on the edge of their seat with 18 runs from 22 balls and a bowling spell of one wicket for 8 runs in 3 overs.
Who is Lucky Piety?
Inspired by her grandmother, Lucky Piety rose to national prominence as a phenomenal 14-year-old in 2021.
The youngster scored a century in her maiden appearance at the National U19 championship.
Meanwhile, the performance resulted in her fast track to the national team where she became the team captain.
Four years later, the youngster announced herself to the world of Cricket.
Piety’s Inspiration and Future Dreams
Piety’s role models include Nigeria’s Issac Okpe and Indian Cricketer, Hardick Pandya, and she hopes to take the game as far as possible.
The ICC U19 World Cup in Malaysia presents her with an opportunity she is willing to take advantage of.
