Afterward, he joined the Leicester City U21, providing two assists in a 6-2 win over Newcastle U21.

Speaking on his promotion to the U21 team in January 2025, Aluko is looking to gain all the experience he needs for the ultimate step up to the senior team.

“It’s been very good, but it’s quite challenging,” the 18-year-old continued. “Everyone is a bit more physical than when I was an Under-18, but the same as that, I just try my best. I can definitely [learn] from the more experienced players.”

Born in England, the defender is attracting interest for an invitation to the Nigerian U20 team.

Recently, Coach Aliyu Zubairu listed 30 players in preparation for a friendly series against Egypt.

The Flying Eagles prospect joined Leicester City in 2022 as a midfielder before transitioning into a defender as a left-back.

Aluko caught Leicester City scouts’ attention at the UK Football Trials’ five-day training and trial camp in August 2021.

He is eligible to play for Nigeria and England but currently prefers Nigeria as the national team of choice.
