Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun has revealed what life after football will be like when he draws the curtain on his career.
The Glasgow Rangers player wants to help the national team stay on top by becoming the team’s ambassador.
Speaking with Aysugar, Balogun says the role will involve helping the Super Eagles attract top dual-national talents.
“If I stop playing, to be in some sort of ambassador all for the Nigerian national team because like you just said, I think There’s so much Potential. They’re so many players That look at David Alaba, Akanji.”
In recent years, Nigeria has missed out on top talents with dual nationality, something Balogun isn’t happy about.
Saka, Musiala, David Alaba, and Manuel Akanji are some of the players who could have played for Nigeria.
“Obviously, it’s about sending the right messages, making the national team attractive enough for them.”
A dual nationality, Leon Balogun chose to play for Nigeria and thinks it’s special to be able to come home despite living abroad.
Leon got his maiden call-up to the national team in 2014 under Stephen Keshi for the Mexico friendly.
” I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who felt at the time when I got called up to the national team. I mean obviously, I’m mixed. But this is, this is home. This is my other half calling me to come home.”
