Ezekiel Nathaniel rewrote history as he broke his African and National Record set a fortnight ago with a time of 44.74s to win the men’s 400m crown at the Big 12 Indoor Championships.
The NCAA leader positioned himself as the clear favourite when he cruised to a blazing 45.29 in the preliminaries.

Last week, Nigeria’s Ezekiel Nathaniel went into the history books, becoming the fastest athlete from Africa, breaking the 400m indoor Record with a time of 44.92s.
Meanwhile, Ezekiel Nathaniel now owns the two fastest African 400m indoor times in history.
Rejoice Sule Earns A Medal After Second Try
Also, in the NCAA, Rejoice Sule bounced back to get a podium finish in the women’s 200m final at the C-USA Indoor Championships after missing out on a medal in the 60m final by placing 4th in 7.39.
She ran a Personal Best (PB) of 23.21 to win the Bronze medal behind teammate Niesha Burger, who completed the sprint double.
Iowa freshman Chioma Nwachukwu claimed the Bronze medal in the women’s 400m final at the Big 10 Indoor Championships.
She dashed to a time of 52.44s to win her heat ahead of Charlee Crawford (52.49s) but ranked third overall as Savannah Sutherland (51.74s) and Yemi John (51.76s) produced faster times in their heat.
Adaobi Tabugbo Joins Exclusive Club
Adaobi Tabugbo joined the prestigious sub-8s club of African female hurdlers.
The University of Central Florida (UCF) athlete returned a time of 7.99 to snatch the Silver medal in the women’s 60m hurdles final at the Big 12 meet.
Meanwhile, Tabugbo’s performance has made her the 7th African woman to go under 8 seconds over the distance. She’s currently ranked 5th on the Nigerian all-time list.
Furthermore, Eseorghene Awusa placed 7th in 8.35s.
