Eric Chelle recorded his 9th draw result after the Super Eagles gave up a last-minute goal to draw 2-2 with hosts Poland in the first of their two European friendlies.
Terem Moffi scored at the end of a lovely cross from Moses Simon. Initially called for offside, but VAR overruled. Super Eagles led.
Nigeria took control of the game, winning the 50-50 balls until they lost concentration in the dying minutes of the first half.
Potulski levelled for Poland right before the half-time whistle to pull them level off a corner-kick.
Coach Eric Chelle made seven changes at half-time, a move which derailed Nigeria’s control of the game.
A Different Second Half
After settling into the rhythm, the Eagles started probing forward in search of a goal.
Trabzonspor striker, Paul Onuachu, glanced a header wide from a Philip Otelle cross.
Minutes later, Onuachu scored from the spot after a Polish defender handled the ball to restore Nigeria’s lead against Poland, 2-1.
With 30 seconds to the end of the game, Przemysław Wiśniewski picked the perfect moment to score the goal of the night, firing Poland level in the dying seconds.
Chelle Records Ninth Draw
The result takes Eric Chelle’s reign to 9 draws, 16 wins, and a loss in 25 games as Nigeria head coach so far.
Currently, Chelle is on an unbeaten run of 11 matches with Nigeria.
