2026 African Beach Volleyball Championship: Nigeria Women Rule Africa, Qualifies For Los Angeles 2028

Nigeria’s Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa are the new African senior beach volleyball champions after beating Morocco 2-0 (21-18, 21-10) in the women’s final of the 2026 African Beach Volleyball Nations Championship in Egypt.

In Alexandria, the Nigerian duo claimed the continental crown and secured the coveted ticket to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

This triumph confirms the remarkable progress of Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa in beach volleyball.

Earlier, in June 2024, Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa were already crowned African U19 champions, defeating Morocco in the final.

By 2025, they took another major step forward by winning the bronze medal at the senior level at the African Championship held in Morocco.

Sweet Revenge For Esther Mbah and Pamela Bawa

The final had a special flavor for Nigerian women. Before the knockout stage, Morocco beat Esther M/Pamela 2-1 (18-21, 21-15, 15-13) in the championship.

Esther M/Pamela then had a solid run in the knockout table. The duo notably eliminated Egypt in two sets in the round of 16 before beating another Moroccan pair in the quarter-final.

The Nigerians then dominated Mozambique 2-0 (21-17, 21-17) in the semi-final to reach the title match.
