Kwara United staged a dramatic late comeback to earn a 2-2 draw against Kano Pillars in an entertaining Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) encounter.
The visitors broke the deadlock in the 12th minute through Shola Abdulrahaman, who produced a moment of individual brilliance by dribbling past defenders before calmly slotting the ball into the net.
Kano Pillars doubled their advantage in the 30th minute when veteran midfielder Rabiu Ali finished off a well-worked move to give his side a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into the halftime break.
Kwara United responded immediately after the restart, reducing the deficit in the 47th minute following a goalmouth scramble, with the ball eventually forced over the line to make it 2-1.
Jerry Alex emerged as the hero in the 94th minute, scoring the leveller to rescue a valuable point for Kwara United and end the contest 2-2.
Speaking after the match, Kano Pillars head coach Daniel Ogunmodede expressed disappointment at dropping two points, insisting that Kwara United were fortunate to come away with a draw.
“The home team were lucky to get a draw today. We created enough chances to win the game, but that’s football. Our target remains clear—to win the NPFL league title this season.”
