D’tigers need to win at least two of three games to redeem their chances in the 3rd Window of the 2025 Afrobasket qualifiers.
Speaking ahead of tomorrow’s game, the coach of the team Abdulrahman Mohammed expresses confidence in the abilities of the boys to make Nigeria proud.
“The boys are in high spirits and are rearing to go,” he enthused.
Also, the team captain, Ike Nwamu, stated confidently, “We are ready for sure. Everyone is ready and excited for this opportunity we have to make our country proud.”

Mohammed will be in charge of the D’Tigers as coach in the absence of Ogoh Odaudu.
Abdulrahman Mohammed and his wounded Tigers must win at least two of the three games and hope Uganda bottles its chances. Cape Verde currently on 6 points is certain to reach the finals next year even with three defeats in this Window.
Meanwhile, host Libya with 5 points will land in Angola with two more wins while Nigeria’s voyage to Luanda will end if Uganda picks two wins in this Qualifying Window.

Under FIBA’s new competition system, the AfroBasket is held every four years featuring 16 national teams.
Furthermore, the 16 teams will be drawn into four groups of four teams each.
Also, the 16 national teams are known after a 20-nation AfroBasket Qualifier that runs through three qualifying windows in February and November 2024 and concludes in February 2025.
Meanwhile, FIBA Men’s AfroBasket 2025 will be the 31st edition of Africa’s most prestigious continental men’s basketball championship.
The tournament will take place in Luanda, the Angolan capital between the 12th and 24th of August, 2025. Angola is hosting for the fourth time after they hosted the event in 1989, 1999, and 2007.
