Young Moroccan Schoolgirls wins maiden African School Champions Cup
Moroccan school girls have won the inaugural African School Champions Cup.
The championship took place at the Stade De Martyrs from 19th-20th February 2022.
After two days of impressive football from the six participating countries, the winners have emerged.
The young school girls of Morocco beat their South African opponents by a goal to nil in a tough final.
The confidence, intelligence and charisma of the young Moroccans caught the attention of the fans inside the Stade De Martyrs on Sunday the 20th of February 2022.
Impressive displays from Fatima Zahraa Naini, who won the player of the tournament, and Yasmine Sioui was enough to earn Morocco the trophy.
In the boys’ category, hosts the DRC defeated Senegal by three goals to one to win the trophy.
Meanwhile, FIFA president Gianni Infantino, CAF president, Patrice Motsepe were present to hand the trophies to the winners.
After presenting the trophies, Infantino in an interaction with the media said the tournament “is here to stay”.
The African Schools Championship is a competition organised by FIFA to support grassroots football development on the African continent.
Furthermore, the next edition will have more African countries participating.
Also, the inaugural edition is a pilot test featuring six African teams.
