Akin Amoo switches Stockholm for Copenhagen, the headline that brought an end to the protracted transfer of the Nigerian wunderkind.

FC. Copenhagen has signed Nigerian attacking talent Akin Amoo from the Swedish side Hammarby IF on a contract until 2026.

The 19-year-old forward notched 13 goals and nine assists from 48 appearances for Hammarby.

Sources close to the player say Clubs like Real Sociedad, Rennes, Ajax and others came knocking but, FC Copenhagen was ready to break the bank for him.

He put pen on paper for a five years contract with FC Copenhagen.
It’s Hammarby’s highest record signing, 4m Euro plus.

The transfer didn’t happen with ease, as it took a lot of fronts and back to convince Hammarby.

Hammarby denied according to Sportbladet’s and, Copenhagen came with a higher bid that got rejected.

It took a club record of 4.5 million euros and a little bit of pressure from the management of the player.

The transfer got to a head when reports surfaced on Sportbladet about Amoo staying away from training to drive home his wish.

The player quickly denied it and professed his loyalty to his club.

The report was said to be a leak from an insider to pressure Akin Amoo.

Sources revealed that the player wanted a fresh challenge away from Sweden and his management got to work.

A subtle pressure on his now-former club, Hammarby, who ensured they got value for the talent worked.
Hammarby’s negotiations pushed the limit for a player with just a season in Europe and a promise.

Meanwhile, Copenhagen fans were camped on Amoo’s Twitter page, waiting for their youngster to come.

“The negotiation was tough but, FC Copenhagen stood up Financially” A source involved in the deal revealed.

Amoo remains one of the most successful members of the 2019 U17 team so far and will continue to set the bar.
