FIFA 2022 World Cup Qualifier: Nigeria To Battle Rivals Ghana


Nigeria will face the Black Stars of Ghana in the playoffs for the FIFA 2022 World Cup tournament in Qatar.
The matches will be in March, and only one country will advance to the World Cup later this year.
The fixture will be the first meeting of the two sides since the international friendly game in England in 2011.

The Super Eagles emerged from a group comprising Liberia, Cape Verde and the Central African Republic to be eligible for the playoffs, while the Black Stars prevailed over South Africa 1-0 on the final day in an explosive and controversial duel in Cape Coast.
Ethiopia and Zimbabwe were the other teams in the pool.

Chukwueze celebrates

Nigeria will be hoping to qualify for the World Cup finals for the sixth time after featuring in the past three editions in 2014 and 2018.
From head to head, Ghana won 21 games while Nigeria won 10.
The Super Eagles will play the first leg of the tie in Ghana before hosting the second leg.

The FIFA 2022 World Cup qualifying matches will hold between March 24th-29th, 2022.
Nigeria and Ghana met at this stage in 2002, with the Super Eagles winning 3-0 after the first leg had ended goalless.
