FIFA The Best: How Ahmed Musa, Other Nigerians Voted


Nigerian male and female national team captains cast their votes for eventual winners of the FIFA The Best Awards.

The revelation of the voting at the FIFA The Best Awards shows that Nigeria’s skipper, Ahmed Musa, voted for Polish star and eventual winner, Robert Lewandowski.

Musa chose Egypt’s Mohamed Salah as his second choice, while the third was Jorginho.

In the voting by the coaches, Salisu Yusuf voted for Nigeria.
His votes for men went to Jorginho first and followed with Lionel Messi and Kevin De Bruyne.

Only the eventual winner, Lewandowski, voted for his two possible rivals, Messi and Ronaldo, whom he voted second and third.

Messi did not vote for his possible rivals, Ronaldo and Lewandowski. Instead, as captain of Argentina, he voted his two clubmates at PSG, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, while his third vote was for Karim Benzema.

Portugal captain Ronaldo voted Robert Lewandowski first and followed with N’golo Kante and Jorginho.

For The Best FIFA Men’s Player, the voting is split identically four ways.

Media representatives, national team coaches, national team captains and fans get a 25% say.
The latter joined the voting process in 2016.


Meanwhile, Super Falcons captain Asisat Oshoala chose Alexia Putellas in the women category.
Puttellas is her teammate at FC Barcelona Feminine and the eventual winner of the category.

Also, Falcons coach Randy Waldrum cast his vote for Chelsea striker Vivian Miedema first, Alexia Putellas and Jenni Hermoso.
