Meanwhile, if he keeps scoring at his current rate of 0.65 goals per game, he is on track to surpass Rashidi Yekini’s record by his 58th cap.

Four fewer than it took the Goalsfather to set his 37-goal mark.

Nigeria Vs Sao Tome: A Record Victory

The 10-0 win is the biggest win in Nigeria’s history, shattering a previous win from 63 years ago.

The match happened on the 28th of November 1959 at the Nkrumah Cup, held at the National Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

Nigeria won 10-1 against Dahomey, now the Benin Republic.

Captain And Assist King

Moses Simon captained the team in the absence of William Troost-Ekong and delivered with aplomb.

Captain Moses led from the front by scoring a goal and providing an assist in addition to the two against Sierra Leone.

Nigeria Vs Sao Tome: The Difference In A Pitch

The Eagles moved from a washout pitch in Abuja to a smooth one in Agadir, a big difference.

The Grand Stade Agadir, also known as Adrar stadium, provided a stark contrast to the MKO Abiola pitch offered in the game against Sierra Leone.

Ball movement and smoothness of the pitch were evident, and the result agrees.

Peseiro Is Hungry For Glory

The use of the 4-2-4 formation shows the hunger of coach Jose Peseiro.

A simple tweak in the midfield to feature hard-working Iwobi and a player that can combine central and defensive midfield roles in Etebo help polish the playing style of the eagles.

However, at 9-0, the Nigerian team were still looking for more goals against Sao Tome.

Will the system stay strong when they go up against formidable opponents?
