Nigeria Women Premier League Gets Kickoff Date



Nigeria Women’s Football League board has announced December 9, 2020 as the kickoff date of the 2021 Nigerian women premier league season.

Chairperson, of the NWFL, Aisha Falode made the announcement today at the draws for the NWPL adding that it’s subject to the ratification of the Nigeria Football Federation.

Aisha further disclosed that documentation for the season has been sent and deadlines for meeting up with these obligations and conditions will also be known soon.

Before the commencement of the NWFL Premiership, clubs are expected to meet all guidelines in terms to the COVID-19 protocols, players licensing, DTMS, Medicals and Insurance.

Furthermore, the Chief Operating Officer of the NWFL, Mrs. Faith Ben-Anuge, revealed that the fixtures for the 2020 Premiership season which will be played on a straight league format for the first time in three years.

She noted that, the season would go on a two-week break after Week 15.

Also Mrs. Ben-Anuge disclosed that, the fixture between former league champions, Nasarawa Amazons and FC Robo of Lagos, at the Lafia Township Stadium, Nasarawa has been picked as the official opening game for the 2020/2021 season.

Rivers Angels are the defending champions of the league.
