Sheffield United are reportedly plotting a move for Nigeria international striker Josh Maja in the January transfer window in a bid to boost their attacking options.
According to 20 Minute journalist Clement Carpentier, the Blades are ‘very interested’ in signing the Bordeaux number 9 when the transfer window opens for business and are readying a bid of between €6m and €7m.
Sheffield United have struggled for goals in the 2020-2021 season, scoring 8 in fourteen matches, the second worst record in the Premier League, only ahead of Burnley.
It is reported the Blades hierarchy view the potential capture of Josh Maja as a bargain which could provide boost of energy to their attack.
Sheffield United face competition to sign Maja as Championship outfit Birmingham City have also been credited with an interest.
The 21-year-old is under contract with Bordeaux, whom he joined from Sunderland, until the end of the 2022-2023 season.
Since moving to France, Maja has registered 11 goals in 45 matches for The Girondins.
