Leaders Tojemarine Academy bounced back from their Tuesday loss to Safety Shooters with a 36-25 win over Sunshine Kings in the Ardova HPL Handball Premier League on Thursday.
The leaders lost to Safety Shooters 27-24 on Tuesday and were at their best against the Kings of Akure to inch closer to the title.
Similarly, Lagos Seasiders defeated De Defenders 18-14 in a low-scoring game. Furthermore, Rima Strikers beat Correction Boys 41-25, while the tie between Benue Buffaloes and Kano Pillars ended with 25 goals apiece.
In the women’s category, Safety Babes beat Bendel Dynamos 50-27. Safety Babes remain unbeaten and are coasting to another Ardova HPL title.
Coach Innocent Nwankwo of Safety Babes, attributed his team’s performance to discipline, hard work, focus, and the backing of the corp marshall.
Also, he stated that his team was able to conquer the Nigerian handball team, and the next is competing at the African club championship where they hope to rub shoulders with the best on the continent.
He called on corporate bodies to team up with the Safety Babes to bring laurel to the country.
Nwankwo said, “I will attribute our performance to discipline, hard work, focus and the support of the corp marshall. We have conquered Nigeria and we want to move to Africa and do Nigeria proud.”
