The Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) has unveiled a 15-player squad for the 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025.
The team, captained by Lucky Piety, features a mix of experienced and young players, including Shola Adekunle, Peculiar Agboya, Anointed Aikigbe, Lillian Ude, and Christabel Chukwuonye.
Other players are Kehinde Amusa, wicket keeper Deborah Bassey, Bieni Jessica, Omosigbo Eguakun, Victory Igbinedion, Naomi Memeh, Beauty Oguai, Inyene Umoh and super bowler Peace Usen.
The squad remains unchanged from the qualifiers in Kigali, Rwanda, where Nigeria secured their spot in the World Cup.
Kenyan coach Sarah Bakhita will lead the team, with former Yellow Greens captain Blessing Etim serving as assistant coach.
This will be Nigeria’s second appearance in a cricket World Cup, following the men’s U-19 team’s participation in the 2019 tournament in South Africa.
The Junior Yellow Greens will compete in Group C alongside New Zealand, South Africa, and Samoa. Their first match will be against Samoa on January 18, 2025, followed by encounters with New Zealand on January 20, 2025, and South Africa on January 22, 2025.
The 2025 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup is the second edition of the tournament, with India defending their title.
