The Super Falcons of Nigeria have regrouped ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON, to be played later this month in Morocco.
The Nigerians are the defending champions of the tournament having lifted the trophy for a record, ten times.
The Justine Magudu-led team achieved a historic comeback against the Atlas Lionesses of Morocco in the last edition to achieve the historic feat of being the side to have won the WAFCON the most times on the continent.
Ahead of the 2026 edition, which is also officially the 14th version of the competition, the Nigerian Queens have regrouped in their camp.
The media officer of the team announced that the camp officially opened on 13th July for intense preparation to defend their title, which will further push them to a historic 11th win.
The camp based in Morocco’s popular city, Casablanca, is already bubbling with the arrival of some players. Captain Rasheedat Ajibade led the influx of the champions, with assistant captain and goalkeeper Nnadozie Chiamaka joining in.
Also, veteran striker Asisat Oshoala is among the early birds in the camp after a fruitful season in Saudi Arabia. The team has 9 players in camp, with numbers expected to increase by the end of Tuesday to get things ticking.
Meanwhile, the Super Falcons begin their title defense against Malawi on Tuesday, July 28, after which they will face Egypt and Zambia.
