The Nigerian Premier Football League has announced Warsaw-based digital igaming company Euromatch as the NPFL title sponsor in a 3-year deal worth N10.095bn ($7.5m).
The deal marks the return of title sponsorship to the league since the former league managemnet body abolished it.
After experiencing hiccups with the Glo NPFL deal, the LMC chose multiple sponsorships over a single title sponsor.
In eight years, Globacom spent a cumulative 8 billion naira on the league’s title sponsorship.
10 years later, title sponsorship returns to the NPFL, worth a staggering N10.095bn ($7.5m).

NPFL Title Sponsorship Deal Breakdown:
$2.5m per year, for 3 years. The clubs will get 60% of the sponsorship. Globacom was the league’s title sponsor.
In naira terms, the 20 clubs will share N3.7bn per year. Clubs share 2.2bn (60%). Each club gets 110m.
NPL Chairman, Hon.Gbenga Elegbeleye, is a man who has been in search of stable sponsors since taking over the league.
Despite several failures, the two recent deals look like his consistent search is paying off.
“We have been working assiduously to see this deal come to fruition, and it is for the clubs because without the clubs, there is no league. Sixty per cent of the title sponsorship deal goes to the clubs.”

Chairman of Euromatch Group, Mr Sacil Semih, expressed delight at the NPFL title sponsorship deal, describing Nigeria as a market with enormous potential because of its huge youth population and abundance of football talent.
“We are happy to come to Nigeria and work in the most populous black nation in the world, with its vast youth population and talented group of players. Our target is to work and ensure that we create something for Nigerian football that will see it grow to the level of some of the top leagues around Africa and, hopefully, the rest of the world.”

In a further commercial and media development, the NPFL also announced a partnership with Murphy Ben Inc., which will see league matches transmitted on the NPFL Live YouTube platform, alongside original content including player interviews, features and documentaries.
“We brought on MBIgroup because of their experience with YouTube.” Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye adds.
The NPFL starts on August 28th in Ibadan with Shooting Stars taking on Inter Lagos.
