Nigeria’s Junior Female Yellow Greens secured a second consecutive ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup ticket after beating Zimbabwe by four runs in Tanzania on Saturday.
They qualified ahead of Zimbabwe in the final, played on Saturday, 5 September 2026, at the TCA Cricket Arena, bringing the week-long qualifier to a close.
Nigeria won the toss, and Junior female YellowGreens chose to bat first against Zimbabwe U19W.

To emerge champions, the Junior Female Yellow Greens completed an unbeaten campaign, recording five victories against Uganda, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe.
For the captain, Christabel Chukwuonye, it was a game of nerves, especially in the final over.
“I feel so happy going into the next phase, I actually cried when the game was over. I couldn’t really express myself. The next phase is. There was a lot of pressure in there because it was the last over, and the batters were under pressure, the girls were under pressure, but they were able to hold their nerves; that was fantastic from them.”
Meanwhile, Nigeria became the first African team to play in 2 Under-19 Women’s World Cups after debuting in 2025.
In the 2025 U19 WC, Nigeria defeated 2 full members: New Zealand and Ireland.
