Coach Keith Andrews has revealed that Nigerian International, Benjamin Frederick Brentford debut will happen in the third-round Carabao Cup game against Reading on Tuesday.
Fredrick, 21, returned from a 287-day layoff on August 31, 2026, after picking up an injury in November 2025 during Nigeria’s gruelling 2026 World Cup African play-offs.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Keit Andrews said:
“He hasn’t had a lot of football. We decided not to play him yesterday in the B Team game to make sure he was in the right place to be available (tomorrow).”
Despite the injury, Frederick signed a contract extension in July 2026, opting to stay with Brentford for another four years.
Subsequently, Frederick got a promotion to the senior team after going on loan last season.
This will be his first senior game after playing for 45 minutes for Brentford U21 in a 5-1 victory over Sunderland U21.
Similarly, Andrews confirmed the initial plan to field the son of former Nigerian International, Kaye Furo, in the Carabao Cup game, but the 19-year-old picked up an injury and had to undergo surgery.
Kaye Furo recently won the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award, and Keith felt the time was right to join the main team.
“Unfortunately for him, he’s had to have an operation this morning. The timing of an injury is obviously never good for a player, but I felt he was just coming into a really good place with his game.
