Head Coach Eboboritse Uwejamomere has selected a 25-man Golden Eaglets squad, led by Sporting Lagos Wonderkid Lawrence Abuchi, for the WAFU-B U17 Championship, which starts in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, on Saturday.
Abuchi Lawrence will be one to watch for Nigeria’s U17 squad in this WAFU-B qualifying round, having made his senior debut with Sporting Lagos when he was still just 15 years old.
Meanwhile, five-time world champions Nigeria have been drawn in group B of the championship, a qualifying tournament for next year’s U17 Africa Cup of Nations hosted by Morocco.
The Eaglets will face Niger Republic and Cote D’Ivoire in the group stage, as hosts Burkina Faso battle Ghana, Togo and Benin Republic in group A.
A breakdown of Eboboritse’s list shows three goalkeepers, seven defenders, eight midfielders and seven forwards.
Furthermore, the Eaglets depart Nigeria on Tuesday morning with eight more days to work on their tactical and technical conditioning before their first match at the championship on 14th October.
