Shooting Stars coach, Gbenga Ogunbote, has revealed that the club’s new signings were brought in to enhance their chances of success in the second round of the 2024/25 NPFL season.
According to Ogunbote, the team targeted players in attack, and midfield to strengthen their bench and improve their overall performance.
“The synergy is going day by day, and by now, the majority of the new players have already settled down,” Ogunbote said. “We’re trusting God, believing in the team, and we should be able to see more quality in our attack.”
Ogunbote expressed optimism about the team’s chances, saying, “We’re going to bring out positivity out of every game played. I always want to see things work out the way we plan at the training.”
A statement issued by the Media Officer of the club, Tosin Omojola, revelaed that the players were signed from both the NPFL and NNL sides.
Some of the new acquisions include, Sadiq Ibrahim, a sriker from Sunshine Stars, Omoduemuke Moses, striker from Niger Tornadoes as well as midfielder Okorie Ekeson from Rangers International.
Others are midfielders Ukeme Williams from Miyansar Sport FC, Iraq, and Ephraim Nwachukwu from Osun United.
Meanwhile, the club also announced the drafting of upcoming player, Liuz David, a young professional player into the main team.
In the same vein, the club also announced the departure of eight players namely; Abubakar Aliu, Abbey Benson, Elum Henry, Hassane Sidibe, Bolaji Sakin,Uche Onwuasonanya, Fasanmi Olaniyi and Malachi Ohawume. Shooting Stars are currently third on the league table with 33 points and a game in hand.
The Ibadan soccer lords hope to unleash some of the newly signed players on Nasarawa United when the two sides meet on Wednesday in a matchday 21 encounter billed for the Lekan Salami Stadium.
