The Super Eagles have landed safely in Bissau ahead of Tuesday’s decisive 2027 AFCON Group L qualifier against current group leaders Guinea-Bissau.
The 3-hour journey from the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo, took the Super Eagles to the Osvaldo Vieira International Airport.
Before the flight, the Super Eagles had a recovery session on Saturday, a day after a 2-1 win over Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
Also, the Super Eagles conducted a closed-door training session in Uyo on Sunday at 10 am before leaving for the Airport at 2 pm.
The full 24-player squad and coaching crew departed for Bissau at 3 pm.
Ahead of the game, debutants George Ilenikhena and Usor Moses both scored to inspire the Super Eagles to a hard-fought 2-1 win over Madagascar on Friday in Uyo.
Meanwhile, goals from Dju and Mama Balde gave Guinea-Bissau a 2- 0 win over Tanzania to go top of Group L.
Guinea-Bissau will welcome the Super Eagles on September 29th for the second matchday of Group L.
The Wild Dogs of Guinea-Bissau lead Group L of the 2027 AFCON qualifiers with 3 points and a two-goal difference.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles are second in the group with three points and a one-goal difference.
Due to Tanzania’s position as one of the host nations, only the country that finishes top of the group will qualify for the 2027 AFCON.
The 2027 AFCON is scheduled for Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda, also known as PAMOJA 2027.
