Football business institute, MatchRoom Football Business Academy, has entered into an agreement with innovative Nigerian second-tier side Ikorodu City to collaborate on educational and professional development matters.
The collaboration will help the Oga boys prepare for life after football through exposure to business opportunities.
“We are excited to welcome Ikorodu City into our network as we continue to grow collaborations in Nigeria to boost football business education.
“Nigeria is a country passionate about football, and it is our desire to develop and innovate the industry by organizing knowledge-based courses for footballers, coaches, and professionals.
“With our specialised courses, we intend to accelerate the professionalization of the football industry and develop current and future leaders in the game, here in Nigeria and the African continent,” said MFBA Founder & CEO Ojeikere Aikhoje.
In addition, Aikhoje said Ikorodu City players would be the first to undergo courses to prepare them for life after football.
Speaking on the initiative, the Executive Director of the Ikorodu-based club, Kayode Badmus, said:
“It is very important for our club to be part of The MFBA network. We are proud to be the first Nigeria National League side and the second in Nigeria to collaborate with MFBA.
“As a club, we are sure that we will benefit from their knowledge and innovative ideas.”
Meanwhile, Ikorodu City joins Nigeria Premier Football League side Lobi Stars in the Matchroom Football Business Academy Network of Clubs.
Furthermore, through this partnership, FBA Candidates can immerse themselves into the football industry by developing Student Business Projects and completing their internships at the club.
