A Two Star Osimhen was the difference for Nigeria in their 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifying game against Rwanda at the Amahoro stadium.
The game started with Rwanda in a low block, willing to let Nigeria have the ball in their own half.

Nigeria offered a high press, but Rwanda handled it well in the early minutes. In the 10th Minute, Osimhen latched on to a perfect delivery at the back post from Ademola Lookman to net Nigeria’s first goal.
It was off a free kick earned by Simon Moses.
A substitution by Rwanda coach Abdel Amrouche turned the tide with Rwanda on the ascendency.

In the added minutes, Osimhen scored Nigeria’s second goal of the game against the run of play.
The Galatasaray striker nicked a back pass off Rwanda’s Andji Matete, through on goal before dinking the ball over on-rushing Rwanda goalkeeper for his second of the game.
The second half didn’t produce any goals as Nigeria kept it simple to protect the two-goal lead.
Rwanda made efforts to put the ball in the net, but their only chance was ruled offside
Osimhen’s brace is his 24th and 25th international goal to surpass the legend Odegbami in Niegrai’s all-time list.
Also, this is Osimhen’s first game in the World Cup qualifying series after missing the last four games.
Nigeria moves to fourth on 6 points, with South Africa leading the group on ten points after beating Lesotho 2-0.
