In a strange move, the Nigeria Football Federation says Nigerians will determine if the current super eagles’ coach, Jose Peseiro, will stay on the job or go.
The contract of Jose Peseiro is up with the Portuguese seeking to continue on his job as super eagles coach.
Jose Peseiro took over from interim coach Augustine Eguavoen after the world cup qualifiers.
Results have not been going his way, as his records show he has won four while losing five in nine games in charge.
Speaking during an interview, the president of the NFF, Ibrahim Gusau, says the NFF will push the decision to Nigerians through a poll.
“We have the plan to push the votes to Nigerians to hear their views and thoughts,” NFF president Gusau announced during an interview on the Gbamm! I lovingFootball radio show.
“We’ve tried the foreign coaches and also the local coaches, and it seems they were having some kind of problems.
“Maybe we didn’t get it right in the area of getting the right person.
“We are surely going to push it to the public, whether we should continue with Peseiro or he should go.”
Furthermore, Gusau also added that the fans would also determine if they would go for a local coach.
“Whether we are going to consider an indigenous coach, we are also going to push that to Nigerians on the phone,” Gusau added.
“The public will tell us if they think going for a Nigerian will be best for Nigeria at the moment or we appoint another foreign coach.
“We will get their views, look at it and then we will do what we have to do as a board and come out with a decision.”
The process of voting on Jose Peseiro’s fate in the super eagles is still unknown.
