Czech giants Slavia Prague have announced the signing of Nigeria forward Muhamed Tijani on a five-year contract.
The 22-year-old Muhamed Tijani joins Slavia Prague from another Czech club, Banik Ostrava.
Tijani’s humble beginning dates back to when he was discovered by a journalist in Kaduna, northern Nigeria.
Subsequently, he moved to 36 Lions FC in Lagos before joining the national U20 team for the 2019 world cup.
Speaking on his journey, Gafaar Liameed, owner of 36 Lions FC, believes the patience is paying off.
“We are incredibly thrilled that a young man scouted in Badiko Kaduna State by a renowned journalist Vince Alumona has blossomed into a nightmare for defenders, scoring goals and making waves in the Czech Republic as a result of a great collaboration with Cem Sagar and Dan Smejkal.
Through our program, Lion Tijani reached 10% of his potential and depicted the same at the U-20 World Cup in Poland – in 2019.
Then we transferred him to Banik Ostrava for free. We implored him to be patient and play ball.
During his time at Ostrava, he managed to unlock 30% of his potential.”
The deal with Slavia Prague is worth Two Million Euros, and Gafaar is confident he will reach 70% of his potential in Prague.
He will be hoping to fill the big shoes of Nigerian international Peter Olayinka, who left the team after the end of last season.
Tijani scored 11 goals in 31 matches and one assist for Banik Ostrava in the 2022 – 2023 Czech league.
