NPFL Transfer Mailbag With Michael Imianvan
Last week, the sportsintel NPFL Transfer mailbag promised to touch on the movement of players across the league.
Well, it’s now time to get into the business but first, thank you for reading the last mailbag, trust you enjoyed it. If you did then let’s go on another ride and if you missed out on it, you can read here.
Malomo: Going, Going Gone?
The hottest NPFL transfer as I understand it, is that of Shooting Stars’ midfielder, Malomo Taofeek.
The youngster will likely leave Ibadan after 3 years following the expiration of his contract with no renewal in sight.
Akwa Utd were the first to make contact for Malomo Taofeek via his agent.
Paul Bassey, the chairman of the Promise Keepers really pushing on this one for the Uyo side.
They’ve presented their project to the player and believe new manager Fatai Osho can get the best out of him.
Having been on Enyimba’s radar for over two years, the People’s Elephant sporting director, Jude Ayanfudu is moving fast on trying to get the youngster to Aba. There’s a talk of Finidi George’s admiration of the player and wants it done.
However, both clubs would have to wait until August when the player’s contact eventually expires but might need to act swiftly as the transfer windows closes on the 1st of September, 2023.
Shooting Stars and Remo Stars’ Failed Exchange
Still in Ibadan, striker Sikiru Alimi is on the verge of re-joining Remo Stars after his Shooting Stars contract ended. The move is happening despite Enyimba doing enough to get him. The forward will now sign for Remo Stars on a two year deal.
Sticking around with Remo Stars, midfielder Dayo Ojo has signed a one year extension.
Dayo, who was a free agent after his contract expired needed convincing by club’s board and coach, Daniel Ogunmodede before signing a new deal.
NPFL Transfer: Remo Stars’ Star Five
Meanwhile, Remo Stars have confirmed the signing of five new players in Jide Fatokun, Fabian Nworie, Isaac James, Victor Collins and Tochukwu Michael
Habib Yakub, Achi Nnaemeka, Imo Nkemdinachi and Sheriff Yinusa are set to be unveiled soon.
In Enugu, following the announcement of Fidelis Ilechukwu as new gaffer, the working one is working on having striker, Anthony Okachi in his team.
The 2016 champions of the NPFL is also looking at Ikorodu City’s right back, Waliu Ojetoye, making first contact.
Oh wait a minute, while putting this mailbag together, my source just revealed that Malomo Taofeek will now stay at Shooting Stars for another year on a record breaking salary for the youngster.
Huge one for the Oluyole Warriors to see off interest from Enyimba and Akwa Utd as stated above.
Mbaoma’s U-Turn
In a staggering turn of events, Victor Mbaoma is set to sign for Rwandan side, APR FC after scoring all of Katsina Utd’s four goals in the NNL Super 8 in Asaba.
He was set to sign for a Remo Stars but an offer in excess of $3,000 dollars per month was to hard to look away from.
We won’t look away on the mailbag but return next week for more on the NPFL transfer front.
Ensure to keep supporting the NPFL.
