Enyimba FC will kick off their Campaign on Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, against Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in the first leg of the inaugural African Football League.
The two-time African champion is among the elite African teams for the inaugural African Football League.
Participation in the AFL represents a second chance for Enyimba after losing out of the 2023 CAF Champions League.
Al Ahli Benghazi of Libya beat Enyimba 5-4 on aggregate, sending the Nigeria representative out of the competition.
African Football League: Enyimba’s Form
At the weekend, the club has just endured a roller coaster 3-2 win over Akwa United.
The result means they conceded four goals in two league games and eight in four matches.
Before the Akwa United game, Enyimba lost the league opener to Gombe United 2-0.
Key Players To Watch: Daniel Daga Effect
Team regulars Obioma, Ekene, and Cooper are looking good for the Aba elephants. The goalkeepers Leke and Bassa hold confidence between the sticks, but there are a few more about Enyimba.
Flying Eagles star Daniel Daga and youngster Chidiebere Nnachi are the surprise stars to watch out for.
The signing of the two was very strategic for Enyimba. Before signing them, Enyimba did not replace Fatai Abdullahi and Sadiq Abubakar, both of whom joined Rivers United.
Daga has slotted in as expected and successfully plugged the Fatai hole, and Nnachi, since his cameo debut at the Naija Super 8, has been impressive.
Meanwhile, Chidiebere Nnachi is a homegrown talent from the streets of Ngwa Road in Aba.
He has featured for many grassroots and non-league clubs within Aba before being spotted by Unich Fc boss Mr. Membis Vitus, who took him to Enyimba Fc.
