Two Super Eagles stars are ranking amongst the top 25 assist kings in the European top five leagues.
The top five European leagues include England, France, Italy, Spain and Germany respectively.
Interestingly, a look at the goal records of African players in the top five leagues shows that the first two to provide up to five assists this season are Nigerians. Who are these playmakers according to Transfer Market?
Assist Kings: Victor Boniface(5 In 11)
The first Super Eagles star is Victor Boniface who plays in the German Bundesliga. Arguably, he is the most prolific contributor to the lightning start Xabi Alonso’s team has made.
The Leverkusen striker provided 2 assists against Hoffenheim on November 4.
Boniface was also the provider for both the opening and the final goals as his club went back home with a 3-2 win.
Earlier, Boniface provided the assist that gave Leverkusen their first goal of the season on match day 1. He also made assists on September 2 against Darmstadt and October 21 against Wolfsburg respectively.
Moses Simon(5 In 12)
With a ranking position of 22, Moses Simon is the second Nigerian player to provide 5 assists in a Big European League. The winger got his first goal contribution of this season on match day 3. This helped Nantes to get the opener against Monaco. In the next game, the Super Eagles star set Mostafa Mohamed up for the equalizer against Marseille.
Simon’s best output so far came on September 23. He set up two goals and scored the last one as Nantes thrashed Lorient 5-3. The former Belgian Champion was also involved again on October 22. This time, he set up Abdoul Kader Bamba for the second goal against Montpellier. This gave his side a 2-0 win in the match.
The only Africans that come close to these two Super Eagles forwards are Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), Marshall Munetsi (Zimbabwe), Lazare Amani (Ivory Coast) and Yvan Dibango (Cameroon). They have four assists to their credit so far this term.
