The Super Eagles snatch a crucial 1-0 win courtesy of a Lookman’s goal in the first half to pick a semi-final spot at the 2023 AFCON.
Simon Moses broke through on the left, beating his man before sending the ball across to Lookman to slam in for the first goal.
In a tense game, Jose Peseiro kept faith with the same starting 11 from the Cameroon game.
Goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali passed a last-minute fitness test to be in goal with Pesiro sticking with a 3-4-3 formation.
Nwabali stood between Angola and a goal on two occasions to protect the slim lead.
A near-post save in the penalty area to keep out an attempt from Angola in the first half.
Subsequently, in the second half, Nwabaly made himself big to narrow the angle when Angola was through on goal.
A second goal was scored by Victor Osimhen but it was ruled out by the Video Assistant Referee for offside.
Angola pushed hard in additional time but created little substance. A valiant effort from them, but the Super Eagles are the worthy winners.
For his display, Moses Simon emerged as the man of the match from the game.
Nigeria will now play the winner of the South Africa Vs Cape Verde game in the semi-final of the 2023 AFCON.
