Former Youth Olympics champion, Rosemary Chukwuma has become the first Nigerian in 2024 to do a legal sub-11s in the 100m.
Rosemary clocked a Personal Best, School Record, National Champs, and Olympic Ticket with 10.88s(1.2) to win her heat and beat the automatic qualifying standard of 11.07 seconds.
After running wind-aided 10.8s on four occasions, Rosemary Chukwuma made it count at the right moment.
Nature was in for her because the wind readings for the previous sub 11 times were 4.1, 2.3 m/s.
She has had some 10.8-second runs over the years.

Earlier, Rosemary advanced to the West Region Women’s 100m Quarterfinals after winning Heat 1 running a windy 10.86s (3.1) in the first round.
Also, Rosemary Chukwuma representing her school, Texas Tech in NCAA West Prelims led the 4X100 to qualify for the NCAA Finals set for Oregon.
Rosemary Chukwuma moves up to 6th in COLLEGIATE HISTORY with a wind-legal 10.88 in the 100m.
She becomes the 2nd Nigerian to get an Olympic ticket to Paris in the women’s 100m.
On the Nigerian all-time list, she ranks third behind Blessing Okagbare and Favour Ofili.
