Anchor leg runner Miracle Oluebube Ezechukwu clocked 9.81 to make up 15m on the USA in the final stretch to finish 3rd and qualify Nigeria for the World Athletics U20 Championships 4X100m final.
Miracle Ezechukwu took the baton with the team in 5th place but moved Nigeria up to 3rd.
The 4x100m quartet of Lucy Nwankwo, Chigozie Nwankwo, Tejiri Ugoh, and Oluebube Ezechukwu ran a season best of 43.65s to grab an automatic ticket to the final.
Surprisingly, Nigeria edged the USA by just 0.02 seconds, with the Americans clocking 43.67 and are into the World U20 women’s 4x100m final.

Meanwhile, Team Nigeria’s Tejiri Praise Ugoh displayed a high level of patriotism by doubling up in the 4X440m and 4X100m minutes apart.
Earlier, Nigeria booked their place in the final of the women’s 4x400m with a 3:35.28 season’s best. Becky Ebiyadi, Jecinta Lawrence, Tejiri Praise Ugoh and Faith Ezechukwu got the job done, finishing third.
However, there was barely time to celebrate. Immediately after finishing her leg, Tejiri Ugoh headed straight over to join Nigeria’s women’s 4x100m team
