KRC Genk coach Thorsten Fink has praised Nigerian forward Tolu Arokodare, as a “top striker” after his impressive performance in their 2-0 win over Anderlecht at the Cegeka Arena on Sunday.
Arokodare scored and provided an assist to help Genk extend their lead at the top of the table. The 24-year-old opened the scoring in the 29th minute, his 11th goal of the season, and then set up Konstantinos Karetsas for Genk’s second goal 18 minutes from time.
Fink was impressed with Arokodare’s performance, saying, “Tolu is a top striker. He is fast, strong in the air, left and right-footed, and he scores. What more could you, as a coach, want? Moreover, he now carries out his defensive tasks more than before.”
Arokodare also expressed his delight with the win, stating, “This is an important victory for us. We dominated from the first to the last minute. It was the perfect reaction after the match against Club Brugge.”
Genk’s win marked their ninth consecutive home victory, a new club record. Arokodare is now just a goal shy of his overall tally from last season, and Genk are charging towards the title with 41 points after 19 matches.
The Nigerian striker’s impressive form has been crucial to Genk’s success, and Fink’s praise is a testament to his growing importance to the team.
