The Athletics Federation of Nigeria has unveiled the Team Nigeria roster of athletes for the country in China for the 2025 World Relays.
Nigeria will compete in four of the six relay events, aiming for automatic qualifications in these events for this year’s World Championships in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, the World Athletics Relays will hold in Guangzhou, China, between May 10 and 11.

According to the Secretary of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN), Israel Inwang Mfon, in fielding the four events, the Federation had to place a premium on areas of comparative advantage and medal prospects.
Also, the Nigerian contingent will feature in 4 x 100m relay men, 4 x 100m relay women, 4 x 100m mixed relay, and 4 x 400m mixed relay.
All the non-Olympic events were removed at the 2024 edition of the World Athletics Relays in Nassau, Bahamas.

Previously, there were events like 4 x 800m relay, 4 x 1500m relay, 4 x 200m relay, distance medley relay, shuttle huddle relay, and 2 x 2 x 400m relay.
Furthermore, World Athletics discontinued the non-Olympic events in 2024, leaving only the 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relay. The mixed versions of these events will bring the number of events at the 2025 edition in Guangzhou, China, to six.
However, Nassau 2024 featured five events, but the introduction of a mixed 4 x 100m relay at Guangzhou 2025 will bring the number to six.
