CHAN 2024: We will be ready for tomorrow, Eric Chelle assures Nigerians ahead of Sudan clash

Eric Chelle has assured Nigerian fans that the team will be ready tomorrow as they face Sudan in a must-win game. The gaffer was in the CHAN 2024 pre-match press conference in the company of the captain, Junior Nduka.

The CHAN Eagles lost 1-0 to Senegal to put themselves in a dicey situation ahead of the game tomorrow. Sudan drew their first game against Congo to throw the group open. Senegal is the only team with maximum points after the game.

On how prepared the team is for tomorrow.

We will be ready tomorrow. We had a whole week to train. In reality, it will be better to win and then train, but we will be ready tomorrow. We will have our best game.

Injury news

Chelle says Taiwo (Abdulrafiu) is fit. Goalkeeper Ani isn’t fit. He (Ani) needs more time with the injury.

On the inclusion of U20’s Ebenezer Harcourt

Harcourt is here on the team. I don’t want to take chances with Ani, hence why I called Harcourt. Ani is our first goalkeeper. Harcourt is experienced, having played the U20 AFCON. He is here to give us a number.

CHAN 2024: On the quality of the team

I feel I can not condemn any of them. Some are wearing the national team jersey for the first time. They are working hard to improve. I expect a positive response from the players.

Tomorrow determines our fate in the tournament. We don’t win, we go home.

The Super Eagles B trained for the last time under lights at training pitch 2 of the Amani stadium, Zanzibar. All 23 players, including new addition Ebenezer Harcourt, trained.

The Super Eagles defeated Sudan back in 2018 in a CHAN tournament played in Morocco. The game ended 1-0 in Nigeria’s favour.

The question remains, can the Super Eagles pick up some confidence and grab the maximum points tomorrow?
