On Independence Day, boxing sensation Moses Itauma danced into the hall at a Hotel in Ikeja, backed by a troupe, showing off his Nigerian roots and backed by Bet9ja with a message of hope and a new Nigerian champion in the making.

The last time Moses Itauma was in Nigeria, he came in 2010 as a young boy connecting with his roots.
Now, as a 20-year-old, the unbeaten star’s homecoming is built on the partnership with a Nigerian brand, Bet9ja, seeking to impart the next generation.
As part of his activities, he will meet talented boxing talents and lay a foundation for a local gym.
Moses Itauma: Boxing Career Highlights
Moses became a professional boxer at 18 two years ago, and in those two years, he rose to the top of the mind of the heavyweight division.
After an impressive amateur career that ended unbeaten, Moses is replicating the same form as a professional with 11 knockouts out of 13 fights, with eight of the 11 knockouts ending in the first round and three second-round stoppages, and only two going the full length of his match.
The Nigerian Advantage in Heavyweight Boxing
Moses follows a long list of Nigerian heavyweight boxers who made it to the top and, at some point, wore the heavyweight belt around their waist.
Anthony Joshua, Samuel Peters, and others walked the same path, but none did so as a 20-year-old.
However, Moses is proud of this lineup and thinks it’s an unfair advantage.
“Definitely, I am a proud Nigerian, and I feel this is an advantage to have many Great Nigerian boxers to have done it at this level.”
Additionally, two Nigerians are in the heavyweight division, and the possibility of meeting them became a discussion.
“I won’t fight Anthony Joshua because we have the same trainer(Frank Warren), but there is a possibility Efe Ajagba’s fight can happen if it comes along the way.”
Meanwhile, Moses’ camp has announced his next fight for December 13th, 2025.
