Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi’s journey to his first NCAA Javelin gold by a Nigerian presents a story of consistent growth and a moving man who finally met his luck with his very first throw in the final year.
Nnamdi became the first Nigerian man to win an NCAA Javelin title, sending his implement out to a big first-round throw of 82.26m.
He took the title with his first and best throw of 82.26m.

He won the NCAA Championships in Eugene ahead of Keyshawn Strachan, who reached a best of 80.65m, and Jack Larriviere with 77.91m.
Both of Nnamdi’s two throws over 80 metres were good enough for the win, and he is excited by it.

The Texas A&M senior has made every national championship since his freshman year, crowning his collegiate career with an NCAA title in the javelin throw.
Earlier in May, Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi won the men’s javelin at the SEC Outdoor Championships with a throw of 81.20 meters (266-05).

Chinecherem Prosper Nnamdi won three titles in three years at Baylor before transferring in 2025. However, he missed the 2025 season.
2026 has been a big year for Zazza as he also broke his Nigerian record with a throw of 84.68m in the men’s Javelin Throw at the Tom Jones Memorial in Florida in April.
