Temitope Adeshina has claimed her first NCAA Outdoor High Jump crown, clearing 1.96m in Eugene for Texas Tech to complete an undefeated season and a sweep of both NCAA indoor and outdoor titles.
Adeshina and her biggest rival, Rose Yeboah of Ghana, both cleared 1.96m, but the Nigerian came out on top on countback after a flawless competition, clearing every height on her first attempt.
The win earns Adeshina a first NCAA Outdoor title, adding to the NCAA Indoor titles she won in 2025 and 2026.
Currently fourth on the African all-time list, she has been on a dominant winning streak in 2026 and remains undefeated.
“I’m happy to be the Indoor and Outdoor Champion… Consistency and hard work are the key.”
So far, the national record holder has swept every title she has contested in 2026:
- Big 12 Indoor Champion
- NCAA Indoor Champion
- Big 12 Outdoor Champion
- NCAA Outdoor Champion
Adeshina’s only miss of the competition came at the final bar of 1.99m. Before that, the junior cleared the first six bars.
The Nigerian record holder was aiming to break the 2meters for the first time in her career but couldn’t achieve the feat.
Temitope, in a chat with The Making Of Champion, expressed her disappointment at not scaling 2 meters.
“I thought I was going to cross over 2 meters today. We plan as humans, but God is the ultimate master planner.”
She brings home Tech’s first NCAA Outdoor High Jump national title since 2019, when Zarriea Willis won in Austin.
