The Nigeria tennis team promotion to the Billie Jean King Cup Africa/Europe Group II was secured after beating hosts Botswana 2-1 in a thrilling final playoff group game.
Success Ogunjobi took out Botswana’s Chelsea Chakanyuka with a brilliant 6-2, 6-4 win to put Nigeria in the driving seat.

Later on, Nigerian star player Oyinlomo Quadre came back from a set down and 0-4 in the final set to defeat Ekua Youri 4-6, 6-4. 7-5 and give Nigeria a 2-0 advantage at the BJKCup Africa Group III Qualifier in Botswana.
The final rubber, a doubles game, ended in a 2-6, 6-3, 10-5 final-set win for Botswana, but Nigeria and Botswana have qualified for Europe/Africa, with Tunisia falling short.

Despite having identical win/loss records, Nigeria emerged top of the Playoff group, winning more sets in the group.
Team Nigeria won 70 games while losing 59 in two games, winning 3 matches(sets), and losing the same overall.
In comparison, Botswana has a 65/61 win/loss record in games and a 7/7 win/loss record in sets to finish in second position.
The only team to defeat Nigeria in the Africa Group III qualifiers, Tunisia finished 3rd in the playoff group, missing out on promotion.
The trio of Oyinlomo Quadre, Success Ogunjobi, and Khadijat Mohammed represented Team Nigeria Tennis. Rotimi Akinloye was the non-playing captain.
