Super Eagles midfielder Ibrahim Olawoyin has been named in the Turkish Super Lig Team of the Week for match-day 20 after inspiring his club, Caykur Rizespor, to a 3-2 win over Adana Demirspor on Sunday.
Olawoyin scored a goal and provided an assist in the game, helping Rizespor claim their eighth win of the season. The 27-year-old opened the scoring in the 30th minute with a clinical finish into the bottom corner, and later set up Ali Sowe with a perfectly weighted through ball for Rizespor’s second goal.
As a result of his impressive display, Olawoyin was named in midfield in the Sofascore, BeIN Sport, Who Scored, and Super Lig Communio Teams of the Week.
The Nigerian midfielder showcased his all-around ability, completing 53 touches, 26 accurate passes (81 per cent), and one key pass. He was successful in three of five dribble attempts, created one big chance, and contributed defensively with nine ground duels won and one aerial duel.
Olawoyin’s performance marked his return to the starting lineup after recovering from an injury he suffered against Besiktas on January 3. This season, he has two goals and three assists in 18 league games.
The win lifted Rizespor to eighth position on the log ahead of a challenging trip to title-chasing Fenerbahçe next weekend.
