Caleb Agada, with 22 points in 22 minutes, led all scorers in Nigeria’s 77-59 win over Madagascar in their first 2025 Afrobasket group game in Angola.
Agada was the standout player, leading the game in points, rebounds, steals, and efficiency, and recording the third-most points in a game at the tournament so far.

Madagascar fought back in the second quarter, edging it 23–20, reducing D’Tigers’ halftime lead to 38–37.
In the second half, the Nigerian team shifted gears, displaying defensive discipline, swift ball movement, and efficient shooting.
They dominated the third quarter 17–9, building a comfortable cushion before sealing the contest with a 22–13 surge in the final quarter.

Nigeria will next face defending champions, Tunisia, in the second group game of the 2025 Afrobasket.
The game will be a battle of two former AfroBasket champions, Nigeria and Tunisia, as well as a legitimate title contender, Cameroon, waiting for Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the winner of each group advances to the quarterfinals.
Also, the second- and third-place teams from Groups A and B will compete against each other, as will the second-place teams from Groups C and D, to determine the final four quarterfinalists.
Furthermore, the teams that finish last in their groups will be eliminated.
