The Super Eagles are now the 39th-best team in the world, according to the latest FIFA World rankings.

In Africa, the Super Eagles are the 6th best team according to FIFA’s ranking after booking their spot in the upcoming 2024 AFCON.

Victory against Sierra Leone in Moronvia ensured the Eagles moved up one spot in the FIFA ranking and are closer to returning to the Top five in Africa.

With the AFCON happening in 2024 and few international matchdays available, the Eagles will need to be a part of the top five in Africa to earn a favourable draw.

The Eagles will need to earn a minimum of 23.41pts to meet in Egypt(5th) or 25pts to surpass Algeria(4th).

A top-five spot puts Nigeria in pot 1 and avoids meeting top African teams early in the AFCON group stage.

Meanwhile, Morocco leads the ranking in Africa despite a 1-0 loss to South Africa in the AFCON qualifiers. The Atlas Lions are 13th in the world ranking.

Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt are the top five in Africa, respectively.

Elsewhere, Argentina (1st) is settling into its new role as a world leader. Nearly three months after regaining the top spot in the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking.

Furthermore, La Albiceleste remains out front thanks to friendly wins over Australia and Indonesia. The top three are also unchanged, with the reigning world champions staying ahead of France (2nd) and Brazil (3rd).
